INVEST : CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY HOLDS WELL-ATTENDED BUSINESS
FORUM IN MANILA

Following a successful business forum for Batangas City last December 11, 2013, it was Cagayan de Oro’s turn to hold their forum on February 12, 2014 at the Inter Continental Manila.

The Cagayan de Oro city government officials with active participation from its local business groups and DTI/BOI Regional/Provincial Offices together with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the INVEST Project, successfully mounted a business investment forum under the title “Connect and DO Business in Cagayan de Oro”.

The forum was attended by more than 240 guests consisting of representatives of foreign business chambers, foreign trade attaches, and big corporations. Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno delivered the keynote speech on “Championing Northern Mindanao’s Inclusive Development.” A message of support was given by Gloria Steele, USAID Mission Director.

The other presenters were Dr. Bernardo Villegas, Director for the Center for Research and Communication, who discussed “How the Rapid Growth of the Philippine Economy Impacts on Cagayan de Oro,” and Dr. Cayetano Paderanga, Jr., Professor at the School of Economics at the University of the Philippines, who tackled “Region X Economic Situation and Prospects.”

The forum also highlighted by testimonials from representatives of top-ranked multinational business groups that have chosen Cagayan de Oro as home to their multi-million business investments such as A Brown Company, ICCP Group (Pueblo de Oro), PHINMA Corporation, and Ayala Land.
