ASSESSMENT OF THE WELFARE IMPACTS OF POTENTIALLY TRADE-RESTRICTIVE NON-TARIFF MEASURES ON KEY AGRICULTURAL / FOOD COMMODITIES
(2022 - 2023)
Client and Funding Source: National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)
Contract duration: 2022 - 2023
Themes: Agriculture, Economics
OIDCI recently signed a contract with NEDA last 29 July 2022 for the implementation of the Assessment of the Welfare Impacts of Potentially Trade-Restrictive Non-Tariff Measures on Key Agricultural/Food Commodities. The study will assess the economic/welfare impacts of reducing or removing certain trade-restrictive NTMs on key agricultural/food commodities (i.e., fish, chicken meat, and swine meat) on the agriculture sector, the economy as a whole, and welfare of various stakeholders. The analysis primarily aims to answer the following questions:
- What are the economic/welfare costs of NTMs on fish, chicken meat, and swine meat?
- What are the impacts of removing potentially trade-restrictive NTMs on abovementioned commodities, particularly on certain macroeconomic indicators and outcomes from 2022 to 2030
- What sectors will particularly benefit or suffer a loss from the removal of the trade-restrictive NTMs?
