AN AUGUST GATHERING AND 30 YEARS OF FRIENDSHIPS
In August of 2013 OIDCI celebrated another milestone year in development consulting with a simple gathering of colleagues, partners, and friends who have been part of the company's 30-year journey.
One of the highlights of the evening was a Book Signing led by Cesar E. A. Virata for one of the company's publications, "The Silver Odyssey – A Quarter Century of OIDCI ". Mr. Virata has been a steadfast supporter, mentor and friend to the management of OIDCI even during its early years as a start-up consulting company. Through the years, he has given invaluable advice and encouragement and more importantly, set a standard of professionalism that the company holds as a cornerstone of its guiding principles.
In his message, Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Percy Sajise said, “Let us march together forward and be counted as humankind travels the road of more and greater challenges, in promoting sustainable development where no one is left behind, and our life support system is secure for all generations to enjoy.” Engineer Carmelo Villacorta gave a warm welcome address as he recounted how the company was able to hurdle economic, political, and environmental challenges in its 30-year history with the support of friends and partners in the industry.
The ceremonial toast to the company was led by Dr. Delfin Ganapin who took a timeout from his busy schedule to say a few words of encouragement and congratulate the management and staff for making OIDCI what it is today. Dr. Ganapin related how he got his first consulting experience with OIDCI on a project in Palawan after he just barely completed his academic training. Others who also took part in the toast were Dr. Ernie Guiang, Andy Limcaoco, Vicky Armilla, and Pat Dugan, who have all been supportive of OIDCI through the years.
President Becky Paz capped the evening's celebration by thanking those who with their invaluable support has made the company a leader in development consulting. She noted that while the journey has been fruitful in many respects, she looks forward to the beginning of a new and exciting adventure for the company that will be no less rewarding than the last 30 years.
All in all, it was a night of reminiscing among friends, both old and new. Most of all it was a night for congratulations, camaraderie and a keen sense of optimism as to what the next 30 years will bring.
