NWRB FORMALLY LAUNCHES COMPLETED ONLINE NATIONAL "LISTAHANG TUBIG"

The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) formally launched on October 12, 2015 the completed online national water registry Listahang Tubig or Listahangtubig.cloudapp.net.

Listahang Tubig is a web-based national survey of water service providers (WSP) in all service levels (Levels I, II and III). The unified water database currently contains profiles of over 22,000 WSPs from 1,445 cities and municipalities nationwide. It also contains a mapping, with actual geographic location, of current water sources in the country. Among the types of WSPs listed on the registry are barangay water and sanitation associations, cooperatives, homeowners’ associations, industrial locators, real estate developers, rural waterworks and sanitation associations, water districts, other private operators, and utilities run by local government units (LGU).

Through the creation of the database, the NWRB was able to identify risk areas and areas for rehabilitation. It was also able to establish service benchmarks for Level III WSPs, which comprise of water districts and water utilities. Data from Listahang Tubig will be accessible to concerned government agencies and LGUs. This current set of data and information is expected to guide efforts to reach municipalities and barangays that still lack access to safe drinking water.

Training for and conduct of the national survey began in November 2014. The NWRB signed a Memorandum of Agreement in July 2014 with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) for the project partnership; the management of the national water survey was contracted to OIDCI. The project partners attended the launch of the completed registry as well as other members of the project’s Technical Working Group such as the National Economic and Development Authority and the United States Agency of International Development.
