PROJECT FEATURE: DEVELOPMENT AND INSTALLATION OF BEAM-ARMM's UMIS
Facilitating Institutional Development through Systems Development
OIDCI has implemented institutional development projects in Mindanao, with the end in view that institutions are major players in scaling-up innovative strategies, technologies and skills that are expected to provide benefits to a larger population. These institutional development projects involved systems development, institutional assessment and provision of technical assistance to institutions to enable them to carry out their tasks and mandates.
In 2014, commissioned by AusAID’s Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao (BEAM-ARMM) program, OIDCI developed a Unified Management Information System (UMIS) to aid the implementation of the program. OIDCI consultants were successful in designing and making operational an information system that consolidates activities data from BEAM-ARMM’s five components (Early Childhood Education; Basic Education Improvement; School Health, Sanitation and Hygiene or WASH; Technical Vocational Education and Training or TVET; and Alternative Delivery Model). Recognizing the need for accountability and transparency among key stakeholders, the UMIS was provided the facility that is able to import, store and utilize extracted data from existing DepEd (Department of Education) systems and component databases that are attributable to BEAM-ARMM.
